When Nathaniel received the phone call from Luca, he got a shower in, and dressed in fresh clothes. Today he was going shopping at the mall, which was within walking distance from his hotel. He would make plans to invest in some viable transportation the following week, but for now would hoof it.
He was there by the time the City Centre Mall opened for the morning rush. It was an upscale mall, and Nate was scoping out potential store fronts for his new shop. But he couldn't conceive of working from a mall, with too many kids around. He required a shop that was freestanding, with high traffic volume.
First place he went was for a bit of Bling! He saw the strong aura of Dianthe Nevar, the owner of the shop, and felt her on a metaphysical level. It was almost overpowering, but Nathaniel bought a Rolex from her, an oyster perpetual. It cost him $500, and would go on his Platinum Visa. Now he could tell the time without having to constantly check his cell phone.
He ate a beef burrito at Chipotle's with all the fixin's, then continued onward to Bloomingdale's. A leather jacket by Hugo Boss, set him back another $650. But its buttery softness felt good, and it was the same inky black as Dianthe's hair, now that he remembered it. He picked up some Calvin Klein undies, along with wife beaters, a few shirts by Ralph Lauren, and jeans by Calvin Klein and AX. After Bloomingdale's he walked with a bunch of shopping bags, and had to rent a trolley to carry them in while he tried on shoes.
He found a Harley Davidson store in the mall, and was tempted to take the Hugo Boss leather jacket back to Bloomingdale's but, a pair of Harley Davidson Respite motorcycle boots caught his blue-green eyes. They were $130 and on sale. So he tried them on, size 9 1/2. They felt good. Goodness knows he could not wear those Vans a moment longer. Nate wound up walking out of the shop with the Respites on his feet, after paying for them.
Nathaniel needed to bring his purchases back to the Marriott Waterside Hotel, where he was staying, and on the way back, stopped at a bait and tackle shop. There Nate picked up a brand new fishing pole, some line, lures and some live bloodworms, because the salesperson told him the fish were biting in the area Luca wanted to camp out, and hitting the bloodworms hard. His hands were full, his arms were tired, but he had accomplished his shopping excursion.
Nathaniel packed his belongings in a tote he had bought on sale at the tackle shop once he got back to his room. He felt more himself now that he had a bit of what he was used to having for creature comforts. He placed all his other clothes that he wasn't going to take with him and placed them in the drawers in the hotel room. He had to get a hair cut, and pick up some cigarettes before the morning came so he ventured out once again in search of those places. There was a sense of excitement over seeing Luca again, and this time he would be presentable, more his normal self.
