Dianthe had cleaned up at her place on Twilight Trace, gotten dressed in her workday outfit, black pencil skirt, hose, Michael Kors slingbacks, and a ruffled plum blouse, with 3/4 sleeves. She phoned ahead to Rhonda, her assistant to open up as per usual, that she was running a little late due to her car breaking down, and that she was going to have to use public transportation.
After a long commute, Dianthe finally arrived at her job, that which she was the owner of. Bling! was a shop that was filled to the brim with nostalgic, romantic hand-made jewellry fit for just about anyone who was looking for a little bit of it in their lives. The prices for her rings, bangles, pendants and anklets were reasonably priced and were made from natural things like copper, silver, gold and platinum along with gemstones.
People came in and out of Bling! today. Some were actively browsing while others simply bought. The cash register was ringing like crazy from 9-12 am. While Dianthe sat in the consultation chair with a couple about to get married and were looking for a pair of custom-made wedding bands, Di was thinking about Luca. She hoped he didn't get in too much trouble with his boss for being late, and she looked forward to dinner later in the evening when he picked her up.
But for now, it was all business. "I think you should go with the platinum, it is an everlasting piece that speaks of true love," Di hated to be sappy, but it was her job to sell things. The couple were starry eyed over the platinum, and Dianthe could see the woman leaning hard towards the platinum band. "I could really see you wearing it, and I will throw in a 15% discount on the rings if you buy here at Bling!" she tossed in as the man was having second thoughts. SOLD! Di had a way with words, and this time it paid off.
The rings were beautiful, stunning platinum bands with chips of malachite and azurite in them. It bespoke of originality, and uniqueness. They were one-of-a-kind. Just like Dianthe. One of a kind. The afternoon brought the after lunch crowd, and Dianthe and Rhonda were ready for round 2. Only 6 more hours to go and Dianthe and Luca would be together again, and she couldn't wait.

Rowan skidded, he noticed the same thief who took the art, now the jewel store was his next target. Crap, there was much time to warn the proprietor of the shop called Bling. Hmm. He looked up at the sign, but soon as he was distracted the black hooded man went inside, pretending to be a customer he assumed. It would not be a good idea if he was to run inside the business in a rush, he could use his magic but the cost was RPIT on his ass.
So, better think of something else. Acting as if he was a customer, the Middle Eastern waltzed through the door checking out the wares. Stay cool, stay calm. He thought to himself, his irises scanned the crowd, then cursed under his breath but quickly took the time glancing at the wares some more. What better place to attract his kind than any other? Gems were precious, lots of things were, it would seem the woman overyonder could help him on a specific item. Smiling softly, he slowly moved towards the specious female, didn't know her.
What he sought was not the jewels, but perhaps he'll see if he can buy something for his oldest sister who was in town. Yes! That's who he'll present the gift to, yep. If you're going to play the role, it was best to make it sound like there wasn't anything wrong. Deeply inhaling, he stepped forward peeking at the beautiful diamonds, gorgeous clear gems that took up his interest. "Excuse me miss?"His voice sounded Arabic as he spoke. Arms curled in front of him on the counter so when he peered through the glass he would look more distracted.

Dianthe had heard about the robbery at the gallery, the description the proprietor had given the authorities, and her senses went on high alert when a man with the same description started browsing her jewellry. The man gave her a bad vibe so she pressed the invisible alarm that would send security to her shop. She also had tactics of her own, being a lycan. Super human strength, and speed gave her quite an advantage over the average human. A word was whispered to Rhonda, her assistant, concerning the man who was in the shop, and to keep a watchful eye on him. She would approach him, and offer her help feigning interest in what he said he was looking for, even his aura read trouble.
What she didn't predict was that another man was with him, and Dianthe didn't know if they were together, or two different individuals seeking to rob her till. Dianthe just knew there was no fucking way she was going down without a fight. Hell have no fury than a black woman scorned. "Can I help you, Sir?" to the man in the hood. Rhonda would be able to handle the man with the Middle Eastern accent and the dark aura. Mmm...an equally bad feeling about that one too. Dianthe kept her dark orbs fixed on the man, as she offered her assistance, keeping a safe distance between them. Because she would break her foot off in his ass if he touched her.
Rhonda was helping the Middle Eastern gent, when security showed up. Suddenly the man she was talking to, pulled out a semi-automatic handgun. Lightning quick, the Corax was upon the man, flying into a rage. He took his wrist just as he was about to fire it at the security guards, and snapped the bones in it. "Nique ta mere!" she said, calling him "motherfucker" in Haitian Creole. Rhonda ducked and the other customers did the same, as Di struggled with the assailant. The gun fell, when his right wrist snapped.
Security flooded her store, and snatched up the hooded man once the little lady had taken him down. "Bastarde!" She cursed him again, as he was put into handcuffs and the police called. There was a moment of silence, as Di thanked God she was safe and no one was injured or dead. Of course they stared at her, wondering how in the hell she took down a man who was double her weight and about 6'2" to her 5"6". But she paid them no nevermind. "Back to business!" she called out to Rhonda, who was going to be okay, just a little shaky.
Her clothing for her date with Luca was rumpled but not terribly mussed. She turned her attention to the Middle Eastern man with the terrible energy surrounding him. In Voudoun, it was a bad portent, and she didn't like that feeling. At all. He seemed interested in a few items that Rhonda produced from the showcase, Dianthe kept an eye on him, as one security guard remained, just in the event another occurance happened.

He can feel her looking at him, can sense power flowing from her as the sudden effect of feeling turned into euphoria. A passive of his that his people can sense something of an individual, magic in this case. It was a magic detector that can prepare a jinn for when they need to escape or do what it is best. Yes, voudoun interpreted the majority of his race as "evil" if there was some understanding then it would feel as if, not a single one can live freely if people continue to live in fear of what they misinterpreted.
Many were evil cause some of his tribe choose to DO evil. They had freewill, a lot like humans. A few accepted him for who he is rather than to see past such faults. Rowan felt alone in the world, as much as his tribe has done horrible things it was also on him. There was no way his race can live in peace. How? What is written has nothing to do with the truth. Djinn can be good, neutral, or evil, but there were other jinn tribes that was a portent.
Rowan understand her fears, her worries, he noted the security guards. It surprised him a little that she had taken the thief like a pro, there was no doubt he really was impressed. She had every right to fear, it did not bother what others think just cause what they hear. For right now, he was the customer speaking none of the thief or an inquiry that was expected to come flat out his lips. He saw a ruby, the same color matching Paige's gemstone except the garnet was her jewel even at birth.
Biting his lower lip, he then moved down the glittering red stone that caught his eye. "How much is this?"In the place of business, it was rather not a good idea to spill out the drama. Rowan too was a businessman, in order to stay alive he had to think upon his feet. At times, Jerry the mouse from Tom & Jerry will probably be what he can really understand. A tiny guy surviving, running away from mangy felines, the large cats gets a surprised when the small guy pull out a bag of tricks. Course, if he needed to stay alive the tricks was a last resort. He's been doing that up to a point now.

There may have been a trickle of power left from the burst she unleashed on the hooded man, yet it was just a fraction of what Dianthe could do. Good that the Middle Eastern man could feel her onyx stare, she knew good and well that the aura she could see wasn't around anything human. There was no such thing as a good demon, all angels that fell into the depths of hell were tainted, cast out from the light that was God. So there was no misinterpreting on Di's part, the residual energy that Rowan was casting off.
Dianthe would act civilly, as he was a customer. But the moment she sensed anything awry, she would rub the Beryl gemstone she wore around her neck as a pendant, the red stone good for warding off demons and evil. To be cast out of Heaven was to be alone, as far as Di was concerned. Desolation and despair surrounded Rowan, and she could hear the screams of hundreds of innocent spirits he had claimed.
The security guard took statements from each of the witnesses, all telling the same story. That Dianthe managed to get the gun from the assailant, and force him to the floor of her shop. Dianthe had fear, of seeing innocent people get hurt or killed, and took matters into her own hands, seeing an opportunity. Rhonda was showing him the red jewellry, mostly garnets, rubies, carnelian, tourmaline, and red sapphire. They were fashioned into brooches, rings, bracelets and pendants to be worn. Dianthe carried every color under the rainbow it seemed.
Before Rhonda could flip the pendant over to see the price, Dianthe spoke up with a Haitian Creole voice. "That piece is $325 dollars, Sir." She studied him like a cobra, in front of a moving flute. What exactly was she to understand? That he was a compulsive liar like all demons were? Or that he was a kind demon that sought the betterment of human beings? Dianthe didn't think so. "You can pay by cash, or credit card if that piece interests you, my name is Dianthe Nevar, owner of Bling!"
"The ruby is considered to be the most powerful gem in the universe, and is associated with many astral signs. To own a ruby is said to have contentment and peace. Placed under a pillow the ruby may ward off bad dreams. Ruby rings should be worn on the left hand so as to receive the life force and have protection. Given as a gift, the ruby is a symbol of friendship and love. The ruby is also the symbol of vitality and royalty."
Dianthe continued to speak. "The Ruby is filled with love. It also helps sexual love to be more passionate. Persons lacking in self-love should have and mediate on the Ruby. It also gives the courage to be best potential that a person has. Do you have any further questions about that piece, Sir. If not, Rhonda will box the ring for you, over at checkout." she reiterated. Dianthe did her best to be kind, not overly so, but her usual business-like self, no different than she treated any other customer. If he wanted more than that, then she was sorry to burst his bubble.

Rowan took notice of the distrust that he can detect from her meant she wasn't one of those who looked at him like most others. He knew there were good jinn out there though, but it was no doubt her view and opinions on the subject. Not everyone shared such a view. It would seem as there was still some like her and Bryce who saw his kind as potent of evil, a spawn of what is there to come.
Good conquers evil, but then vampires were seen as demons through the eyes of most vampire executioners so this means he can sometimes understand how some feels when executioners stake more vampires each day. Fey do not often gain respect from too many people. So, the question stood as many asked are jinn evil? There were good jinn and there were evil jinn. Scholars, Keepers, and many others has traveled and gained knowledge about these spirits who could perish with a destruction of their own condiment, their container which can be a gemstone, bottle, lamp, and others that was their defense against offense.
If danger lurked they used all methods to avoid it if they can. Jinn may seem like they don't know what their doing, they may seem dumb or clueless, but their intelligence as well as other attributes makes up for lack of other strengths. Rowan was a survivor, and yet, while he may be desolate or alone he wasn't really without his family or few allies that he picked up along the way. Many will hate them, some will see them as an omen, but in the very end there was such a thing as giving a place where they can be in peace with or without the views or thoughts of those that looks at them differently. After listening to the price, he slipped a Master card from his wallet paying the item up front.
Him and now his sister who could have used her own flying carpet or some transportation to get here rather using the magic that is part of who they are. Jeannie was an example of a good Jinn though if you got the woman angry she can become fierce and terrible like a lioness. The Genie on Aladdin showed just how people misunderstood his type. So, there really were good jinns if people took the time to actually learn more about them.
Not all jinn were evil, not all jinn were good either so says the spider to the fly. Angels, as well as most people did consider them to be a terrible being that will condemn all those to corruption. Rowan never corrupted, he tries for happiness, he has not one time abuse his magic but he could have chose to do just that, turn people into snails or worms with his shape-changing ability, but he could not do that to someone whose already a shapeshifter.
He was susceptible to physical attacks, but chose to attack at a distance due to the fact his best was that and not up close same with the fey, they also attacked at distant range, some of them at close range. He did not use any magic unless he needed to or had during times of emergency or when he was attacked. Rowan waited for the woman to scan his card, and his purchase. "I'll take it" Rubies and other jewelry was a girl's best friend, it was what he was thinking about so decided why not get it for his sibling who was visiting for awhile.

Dianthe -All the invisible reasoning on Rowan's part, didn't make one iota of difference once she heard those captive souls screaming for release. She knew what the darkness surrounding him meant, and the shorter the contact with her and Rhonda the better. Dianthe boxed up the Ruby ring, a pretty one set in gold, like most of her jewelry was, or platinum, since lycans also came to her shop and she herself couldn't handle silver. Her abyssal depths followed Rowan's movements towards the counter to check out. "Will that be cash or credit card, Sir?" she asked. She had more protection than just her lycan nature. Tremendous gris gris surrounded the charm around her neck. The Beryl almost seemed to glow in the presence of the demon, or djinn as Rowan probably would prefer to call himself. Just a harmless citizen of course. The boxed ring was placed into a clear plastic bag with handles that read Bling! on the sides. Her bracelets jingled as she extended her arm to take his currency, whatever he chose to pay for the $325 ring.
Rowan: He noticed the Beryl around her neck, nearly swallowing at the mere sight of it. Still, he handed his master card over the counter so it can be charged. It would be best if he left quickly, not about to fight nor wasn't one for any confrontations. Rowan chose not to fight, he pretty much likes the solitary lifestyle much as he needed to. The souls were basically a sustenance, yes, but doubt few against them would care too much. Paige was probably somewhere in the city, so when she saw him again the ring would be presented to her as his idea was kept intact.
Dianthe -Dianthe slid the Mastercard through the machine, and pressed an access code. Then two slips of paper came out of the machine. One for him to sign, that she would keep, the other his receipt. Dianthe said in her accented voice, "Please sign beside the X." She wanted to say something, anything. Finally she did. "Your aura carries with it terrible and dangerous energy. I know what you are." She wasn't all too happy that he had manifested in her shop, even if his intentions behind it were good, even then he could have done a better job in warning her about the robber. The package was given to him, and set on the counter before him to take. "I don't fear you." she said confidently. In case he wondered whether it was fear or ignorance of the fact that he was a demon. But Dianthe knew, and wouldn't allow fear to be fed off of her. The transaction was done, she had said what she said, and that wasn't even all she COULD have said to him. "You have a pleasant day Mr. Willis. Thank you for shopping at Bling!" She said with a lack of enthusiasm in her soft tone.
Rowan: As he signed his signature near the X, he handed the small paper back. Rowan looked up when she mentioned his aura, it smacked in the face the minute she said it out loud about his real identity. He barely ever use it really, his birth happened to be the fact his father was a jinn, the seed created him. Spawning new life. Did he know what will come of it cause of his race? Yes, his father warned and taught him that soon as he ventures into the world people will reject him for what he is, there will be challenges and there will be those against his kind. It suddenly dawned on him the woman across the counter, she was Dianthe as she addressed it to. He heard her say about not fearing him? A brow rose, not sure where to go with that. Rowan did not exactly harm anyone, he couldn't even if he wanted to. It's against the jinn code, but he can feel the unhappiness knowing full well his presence here was unwanted, he respected that. "See you soon."The minute he left her shop, he entered the silver volvo driving off.

Eight o-clock, sharp. Luca had been verbally beaten to hell and back for missing the day before and being almost three hours late today, the boss seeming more worried that they were unprovoked and unannounced, and that the boy seemed rather fine once he'd finally gotten to work, besides looking awfully tired. He'd have been there a little sooner, but Luca just didn't look presentable the way he was after dropping Dianthe off, so he stopped at his apartment for a shower, shave, and a change of clothes.
He'd been thinking about the woman that had taught him so much and given him the night of his life, and faint traces of her power had followed him throughout the day. Hopefully, the date he had rather spontaneously asked her out on would help solidify their relationship. That is, if he didn't screw anything up, which seemed likely to happen. He didn't even have any idea of where they'd go out to eat tonight. Luca had his own ideas, but he'd likely ask her what she liked and make a judgment call from there.
Now he was off work and on his way to a hot date. Luca sent off a text to Dianthe once he got off work that simply said "Off work, omw!", and it was a little before 8 when the healer parked the silver Grand Am and began his stroll through the mall. His clothing was business casual, a blue button up short sleeve and black dress pants. Blonde hair waved its way down to his neck, stray strands sent in their own directions by the wind, and a 5-o-clock shadow was showing itself on his face. The pendant that Dianthe had given him was neatly tucked underneath his shirt, and the boy had made good use of it over the course of the day, getting in a lot of practice keeping his empathic powers at bay.
After a short walk, Luca found himself at the front entrance of Bling, the jewelry store that Dianthe owned. It seemed right, her owning a store like that, especially with what he'd seen of her and her condo. A quick glance around the admittedly pretty store brought him eye to eye with Dianthe, and he gave her a bright smile as he waved her down. Thankfully, no gloves were on his hands this time. "Hey, Di! You ready to go?" He called from across the store.
