The phone was ringing off the hook in the very late hours of the night. As she sat in front of her vanity, her slender digits grabbed for the vintage phone, and her voice lulled into the speaker.
"Veronika Baptiste."
"Ms. Baptiste. This is Chief Johnson of the RPIT. Do you have a moment to speak?"
"Yes Chief Johnson. How may I help you?" Her voice was calm, casual, yet alluring and intoxicating to the man on the other line.
He cleared his throat. "Yes. Earlier this evening, a vampire exploited and harmed the humans in the park. People were injured, some died, and there were also leopards present, too."
Anger flourished, but she kept her cool on the phone. "I see. Were there any witnesses present that provided a description and a name?"
"Yes. A young blonde male gave the description of the vampire. Tall, shoulder-length brunette hair, brown eyes. Another male provided the name of Padre."
"Padre. Well I have never met this vampire before, but I can assure you Chief that Padre will be punished. I do apologize for this vampire's behavior. If I was present, none of this would have happened. If any of the humans are hospitalized, I will provide a donation to help pay for their medical bills."
"Thank you Ms. Baptiste, that is surely generous of you. Please let us know what will be his punishment when you get in contact with him. Have a good night."
"Not a problem Chief. Thank you for calling me and letting me know. Have a good night as well."
She hung up the phone. Padre. Her mission: to find this vampire and bring his ass to the ground.
"Veronika Baptiste."
